Mayor Chris Beutler is seeking nominations for the third annual Lincoln Luminary Award, which is presented to an individual who has made a positive impact on the community and demonstrated Lincoln's values. Nominations will be accepted through October 31, and the Luminary Award will be presented at the Winter Lights celebration Friday, December 7 at Tower Square at 13th and "P" streets.
Mayor Beutler created the award to recognize a person who displays consistent and intentional action; who inspires others; who goes above and beyond in making an impact on the community; and who demonstrates the values of Lincoln. The specific values are listed in the displays on the trail bridge north of Pinnacle Bank Arena. They include caring, equality, mentoring and service.
Nominees should be a resident of the City of Lincoln who has displayed consistent and intentional actions over a lifetime (whether that is 8 years or 80 years) that inspire others; may be an unsung hero who may not be recognized without this award; gone above and beyond in making an impact on the community and its citizens; and demonstrates the values of Lincoln.
The 2017 award was presented to Dennis and Nancy Carlson, and the 2016 award was presented to Randy Hawthorne.
Nominations are due Oct, 31, 2018. See Leadership Lincoln website details.
